S Club’s Jo O’Meara Hit by Bottle during Uni Gig

S Club 7’s Jo O’Meara had to be treated by medics in Bradford after a Student Union concert turned nasty.

O’Meara was performing alongside fellow S Clubbers Bradley McIntosh and Paul Cattermole when an audience member hurled a glass bottle towards the stage. The missile struck Jo on the head, leaving her with a two-inch wound.

The singer collapsed just 20 minutes into the gig and had to be helped from the stage.

As she left, Cattermole said to the audience:

‘It takes just one idiot to ruin everybody’s night. If you are going to throw a glass, throw it at me…you had to spoil it.’

Police are questioning a 20 year-old man in connection with the incident and are believed to be trying to establish whether the attack is related to the Big Brother race row O’Meara was caught up in last year. O’Meara was seen bullying Indian actress Shilpa Shetty alongside Jade Goody and Danielle Lloyd in scenes which outraged viewers across the world.

Speaking from home after the attack, O’Meara said:

‘We were all having a great time until the incident and would like to apologise to fans that our set was cut short.’
