Royksopp Return With ‘Junior’

Exciting news for fans of chilled-out Norwegian electro duos: Royksopp are back! The Scandinavian twosome return on March 23rd with ‘Junior’, their third album and first since 2005’s ‘The Understanding’.

What makes this news even more exciting is that they’ve brought some friends along with them, namely: Robyn, Lykke Li, Anneli Drecker and Karin Dreijer-Andersson (The Knife).

See the ‘What Else Is There (Trentemoller Remix)’, above, for a reminder of how brilliant a Royksopp/Karin Dreijer-Andersson collaboration can be.

A single, ‘Happy Up Here’, precedes the album on March 9th, but if you can’t wait that long you can currently download a strange little freebie (entitled ‘Happy Birthday’) from their website.

Why, Mariah, Why?

Brace yourselves for some full-on emotion: Mariah Carey - perhaps inspired by her recent performance on the UK’s X Factor - has re-recorded her mega-ballad ‘Hero’. We don’t know why either, but the new version appears on ‘Mariah: The Ballads’, released January 20th in America.

The album features 18 of Mariah’s biggest slowies including “One Sweet Day”, “Vision of Love”, “Always Be My Baby” and “Dreamlover.” How are the last two ballads?!

Watch the “Hero” video below. Cute doggy!

Alexandra Burke Smashes Download Record

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has become the latest person to smash the record for fastest-selling download with her cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.

Burke’s version of the track shifted over 100,000 copies in its first 24 hours on sale, with the physical CD single not being released until tomorrow.

We think it’s fairly safe to say she’s got the Christmas number one in the bag.

Congrats, Alexandra!

Geraldine McQueen - Once Upon A Christmas Song

Britain’s Got The Pop Factor ‘winner’ Geraldine McQueen - aka Peter Kay in drag - is releasing her second single, ‘Once Upon A Christmas Song’.

It’s for charity - but somehow we don’t think it’s going to hold X Factor winner Alexandra Burke from the top of the charts.

Girls Aloud Duet With James Morrison

Sandwiched between X Factor’s two shows on Saturday night was The Girls Aloud Party - a one hour celebration of the Girls’ astonishing six years at the top.

Guests on the show included Kaiser Chiefs, Cilla Black, Julie Goodyear and James Morrison.

Here’s a clip of Girls Aloud filling in for Nelly Furtado on James Morrison’s current single ‘Broken Strings’.
